The Delaware Teacher Center provides educators with free, unlimited access to nine "centers" located throughout the state. Teachers can visit a center and use the free supplies to put together class projects or materials that will create a more engaging environment.
About the Center
The Delaware Teacher Center opened in 1981 as an innovative approach to professional development and services for teachers. It was originally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, later by both federal and state monies, and is now entirely state funded thanks to our Legislators, Governors, and Delaware Department of Education.
The Teacher Center provides two main services to Delaware educators:
The Delaware Teacher Center is governed by a Policy Board consisting of teachers and administrators who represent school districts, higher education, state agencies, and other educational organizations.
The Teacher Center strives to improve services to Delaware educators by continually evaluating workshops and centers. It exists to help teachers, hence the motto “Teachers Helping Teachers.”
The Delaware Teacher Center provides and maintains nine teacher resource centers throughout the state for use by Delaware educators at all K-12 public, private and charter schools and their associated ECE programs; as well as Federal Head Start and State ECAP programs, current student teachers, and registered homeschools; and instructors from accredited graduate and undergraduate education programs.
Free services offered in all centers include:
There are nine centers statewide where teachers can create free instructional materials using laminators, letter press machines, poster makers, book binders, tape/DVD copiers, and computers.
