New Educator Resources

Access to resources is a critical need for new educators as they seek to navigate the, at times, confusing web of assessments, evaluations, and learning requirements.

The resources below offer a useful starting point for new educators as they navigate those challenges.

The information below will be updated, when needed.

Pre-Service Performance Assessments

Many states have incorporated pre-service performance assessments (PSPAs) into their preparation program requirements and full state licensure process. This policy brief provides an overview of pre-service performance assessments, examples of these assessments, highlights from NEA’s Performance Assessments for Pre-Service Candidates Task Force, concerns and recommendations. We encourage states and preparation partners to review this document prior to establishing implementation timelines and consequential policies.

edTPA Resource Briefs

Designed to provide an overview of the edTPA and its tasks to our members, this series of resource briefs for teacher-candidates, cooperating teachers, and preparation program faculty are similar in content but vary by audience.

edTPA Resources

NEA encourages teacher-candidates to become familiar with the edTPA expectations for program completion/licensure and submission timelines. The resources below are designed to provide candidates with tools to support them on their edTPA journey. Cooperating teachers and preparation program faculty supporting edTPA candidates may also find them useful.
