Legislative Matters provides readers with up-to-date information regarding what is happening legislatively in Delaware and across the country. The analysis focuses on how proposed or passed legislation will impact DSEA members and schools/districts overall.
On Wednesday, February17th, the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) held a hearing to allow for public comment and critique of the Dept. of Education's proposed FY17 budget. Six DSEA members joined Frederika Jenner, DSEA President, in providing critically-important comments to JFC as they begin to debate the education section of the State's overall budget.
Last year we fought the SEBC's proposed increased premiums and co-pays to our healthcare plan. Now, the newly created State Employees Health Plan Task Force will be holding public hearings to hear what concerns state employees have with possible changes to the healthcare plan. Please join us for these public hearings and make your voice heard.
DSEA is a leading advocate for high-quality public education in Delaware. One of the many ways in which the organization carries out this advocacy is by promoting and supporting legislation aimed at strengthening our schools, protecting our children, responsibly improving the pay and benefits for educators, and promoting a reliable and responsible evaluation system for educators.
