Delaware State Senator Bryant Richardson filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice requesting the elimination of all federal education dollars from Delaware public schools.

This loss of funding would be devastating to our students, our families, our educators, and our communities. If this complaint is successful:

  • Delaware would lose $531 million in funding and supports for the approximately 142,500 students enrolled in Delaware public schools
  • 1,100 educators would lose their jobs, and 
  • 3 out of 5 students in Delaware would lose the Title 1 services they rely on

Senator Richardson is taking aim at state and district policies that ensure all students, regardless of their gender identity, are guaranteed a safe and inclusive environment within the public education system. Delaware's students are counting on us to stand up for them and the schools they deserve!
