As a dedicated and passionate educator, I am once again asking for your support and vote for DSEA Treasurer. This is my 17th year teaching math at Brandywine High School, and my 26th year in public education. My union experience with BEA as a building representative, legislative chairperson, and currently membership chairperson, as well as my seven years on DSEA’s Executive Board, provide me with a strong foundation to stand up for public education and the rights of our members. I represented Delaware on the NEA Resolutions Committee and served as the chairperson in our state. I was a member of the Delaware Teacher Center Policy Board and the DCTM Executive Board. I also was a member of DSEA’s Project PEOPLE cadre, creating and teaching PD modules across Delaware and elsewhere.
Our union is strong, but with the difficult issues we face as public school educators, we must continue to work together to make our union stronger. COVID-19 has upended our lives, both personally and professionally. As we continue to provide quality education and meet the needs of our students, we must also keep in mind that we are all weathering this storm together. Some of us have strong systems of support, while many others are feeling alone and neglected. DSEA has been working relentlessly to protect our members and provide professional development and self-care strategies. We must continue to stay engaged and connected to each other. DSEA is only as strong as its members, and as your treasurer I will continue to work diligently to ensure its solvency and relevance.
As an advocate for all public educators, I appreciate your vote for the opportunity to serve as the Treasurer of DSEA.
