Christopher K. Smith Memorial Future Teacher Scholarships
DSEA has a great interest in encouraging outstanding students to enter the teaching profession. Each spring a committee of DSEA members examines applications and essays seeking to award one $4,000 scholarship.
This scholarship honors former DSEA leader Christopher K. Smith, an English/Language Arts teacher in the Colonial School District who passed away in 1989. He was a long-time advocate for educators; a member of the DSEA Executive Board and NEA Director for Delaware for two terms.
Howard Weinberg Scholarship
The Howard Weinberg Scholarship was established to honor Weinberg and assist the children of DSEA members in attending college. Recipients receive $1,000 per year for four years to help them pursue a degree of their choice.
