Secrets of a Successful Organizer (In-Person) – Based off the book Secrets of a Successful Organizer, this session introduces participants to the tools and strategies for identifying key issues in the workplace and building campaigns that address the solutions for those issues. Participants will receive a copy of the book. The course is a full-day workshop.
One-to-One Conversations (In-person) – Knowing how to have productive one-to-one conversations is a pivotal skill for union leaders and representatives. This two-hour workshop will focus on developing one-to-one conversation skills specific to recruiting. Participants will learn how to B.R.A.G. about their union, structure one to one conversations, deal with tough questions and practice their new skills in a safe space.
Using Data: Worksite Lists and Building Mapping (In-person) – Whether you are working to increase membership or involve members in a bargaining campaign, taking the time to understand the networks that exist in our workplaces helps us organize our union much more powerfully. Participants will learn how to be a more efficient Association Representative by mobilizing and organizing their coworkers through their existing networks. Participants will need to bring a building map and a staff list to use during the training.
Local Leader Planning Workshops (In-person, 2 sessions offered)– As you move toward the end of the 2024-2025 school year, it will be time to start thinking about the next one! Join us for a special preview of what’s coming from DSEA in 2025-2026. Learn about what’s new for membership recruitment, new hire orientations, Leadership Development activities, grant opportunities and more. Local Associations will leave this session with all the tools and information needed to hold a successful local association planning session in the late spring or summer.
